200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training | March 2020

The Tribe Academy Vinyasa 200-hr training is a dedicated, immersive experience in Edinburgh, Scotland. Set aside the time to deepen your connection to yourself, your purpose, and your passion. This program is a month long life empowering adventure. At Tribe Academy we focus on setting a strong foundation of the traditional practices of breathing techniques, asanas, philosophy, and meditation and we teach you how to use these tools of self study to help you create healthy habits, strength physically and mentally and ultimately build you a more vital conscious lifestyle – and how you can share this with your future students if you wish.

We have gathered experts from different fields to give you visions from a scientific, psychological as well as a spiritual perspective. We have experienced senior yoga teachers who will introduce you to yin yoga, functional movement, yoga therapy and how yoga can be and is used in so many different ways in our world today. In Tribe Academy we “fit the Yoga to the body rather than trying to fit the body into the Yoga”. Practice teaching is a core part of our curriculum. Expect many opportunities to practice teach cues, sequencing, teaching aids, and adjustments with fellow trainees. Lead teachers will provide individualised feedback on regular assignments. Our training group size has been carefully crafted so that each trainee is seen by the teachers and has a voice in the community of the group. We keep our training groups small so that we can provide more personalised instruction for each teacher trainee and hold space for each one of our students so that you feel fully supported every step of the way. When yoga is used as a healing tool we can use the mat as a metaphor to understand where we are stuck so that we can eliminate that which does not enhance the growth of our individual and collective evolution.

Some practices are challenging, vigorous and will require self-discipline. Some practices are slow and juicy with therapeutic space for rest and relaxation. Both styles are valuable, both are important. Tribe Academy is the place where sweat, tears, openness and fun meet softness, quiet, introspection and self love. Your Average Weekly Schedule

Monday to Friday: 8:30am-5pm

  • 8:30am-11am Asana and meditation practice
  • 11am-12:15pm Lecture
  • 12:15pm-1:45pm Lunch break
  • 1:45pm-3:15pm Lecture
  • 3:15pm-3:30pm Tea break
  • 3:30pm-5pm: Asana lab

Saturday: 12pm-5pm

Each Saturday is a full day of either anatomy and functional movement, introduction to yin and the art of touch, finding your voice, or other themes.

Sundays: Rest and restore

  • Early-bird price: £1,950.00

Early bird pricing applies when the full payment has been received by the 1st of February.

Deposit & Securing Your Space

A £400.00 deposit is due upon application to secure your space. The deposit is non-refundable unless your application is not accepted. The amounts listed above INCLUDE your £400 deposit. Please note spaces are limited and this training is expected to sell out.

Payment Plan

We are proud to be one of the first providers of Yoga Teacher Training in the United Kingdom to offer payment plans. To secure your space, you would need to pay the £400 deposit prior to the 1st of March. Then, 12x monthly payments of £150 will be taken starting March 2nd. Total payment £2,200.00.

Christel
ChristelLead Teacher
Christel has always been inspired by movement work. Growing up as a dancer, she has a natural way of using her body to express herself, and yoga has helped her find freedom through movement. Christel’s focus is to use yoga as a tool to become aware of this close connection that already exists between our mind and our body. She encourages and supports each individual to listen to their inner guidance, move freely, and to take responsibility for their own well being. Christel brings all of her own yoga and healing experiences to her teaching, and is known for holding a safe space for everyone to be exactly who they are.
Christel has taught yoga and movement for years and the last 4 years she has managed the three Tribe Yoga studios in Edinburgh and is responsible for the Tribe Yoga teachers’ continuous development and growth.
Tessa Tweedie
Tessa TweedieSenior Teacher
Tessa is our Yin expert at Tribe Academy. She has studied the practice of Yin for years and is known for her challenging yet calming intelligently sequenced classes.
Tessa will introduce you to the foundations of Yin yoga.

You will in this practice learn how anatomy varies, especially at the skeletal level.
Instead of focusing on how the pose should look, we delve into functional alignment that everybody has, starting with yourself.

This means each person can align his or her body to serve the functional intention of the pose. You will learn the different ways in which each pose is meant to stress, stimulate and stretch the bodies’ connective tissues.

Tessa will also guide you through the art of hands on adjustments and how to use these in a safe and helpful way with your future students.

Emma Fraser
Emma FraserSenior Teacher
Emma started teaching kids yoga years ago, and this playful approach to the practice along with her comprehensive knowledge of anatomy makes her classes accessible with a strong focus on safety and anatomy.

With Emma you will discover the physical and physiological effects of yoga. Emma will teach you about the central nervous system and how conscious breathing and movement strengthens our nerve transmissions from the body to the brain, helping to decrease our emotional stress and muscular tension.

Emma will introduce the history of yoga and how it has shaped our practices of today. This will encourage your depth of knowledge beyond asana, opening new doors within your yoga. Emma has also worked with yoga for pregnancy, and she will teach you how to adapt the practice to benefit mums to be.

JJ Robb
JJ RobbSenior Teacher
JJ has always had an interest in movement. When he was competing in Free ride skiing he had a bad fall, and functional movement and yoga brought him out of injury, which deepened his interest further. JJ will lead you through the module of functional movement and teach you how to adapt some of these ancient physical practices to benefit our modern lifestyle and bodies.

Via anatomical principles JJ will take you through the differences between flexibility and mobility, and how to intelligently sequence a class where your students build strength in a safe dynamic and fun way.

JJ will also teach you the art of arm balances and inversions. He is known for his light hearted yet challenging teaching.

Dr Carrie McCrea-Routray
Dr Carrie McCrea-RoutrayAnatomy Teacher
Carrie graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2004, completing GP training and gaining further qualifications in child health, women’s and sexual health before going on to complete Sports and Exercise Medicine training. With over 11 years of experience in high performance sport Carrie has worked in a variety of sports settings including professional football, rugby, hockey and aquatics. She has a depth of experience of working with athletes throughout Scotland and has developed special interests in mental health in sport, female athlete issues, anti doping and yoga sports medicine. As a retired hockey player and trained yoga teacher Carrie uses her professional knowledge and personal experience of sport to guide her medical teaching.
Dr Raj Routray
Dr Raj RoutrayAnatomy Teacher
Rajeev graduated in Medicine from the University of Edinburgh and is a recently retired cricketer. He has been practising both General Medicine and Sport and Exercise Medicine for the past 8 years. His work ranges from youth development to high performance environments in a multitude of settings including professional football, boxing, cricket and disability sport. He combines his unique knowledge as a yoga teacher, doctor and former athlete to his work and his teaching, thus providing a novel learning opportunity for students.
